Progressive Funeral Home respectfully announces the passing of Antonio Cortez Owens age 54 of Columbus, GA on May 15, 2023
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Antonio Cortez Owens will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. James AME Church with interment following at Evergreen Memorial Garden. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 beginning at 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM with an Omega Service at 6:30 PM.
Antonio Cortez Owens was born on August 2, 1968 to Willie Owens and Ella Gordon in Havana, Florida. He graduated from Havana Northside High School in 1987 and furthered his education at Albany State College, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
He married the former Ronetta LaGail McCloud on December 17, 1994 and recently retired from the Columbus Consolidated Government as a Transit Manager for the Department of Transportation/METRA. Antonio was an active and devoted member of St. James AME Church and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories a loving, dedicated wife, Ronetta LaGail McCloud Owens; one daughter, Brandi Owens; two sons, Treyvon Owens and Anthony Owens; his Mother, Ella Gordon; his father, Willie Owens (Emma); one brother, Mario Owens (Janice); three sisters, Stephanie Owens, Veronica Owens and Joy Owens; his mother-in-law, Ruby E. McCloud; two brothers-in-law, Stephon McCloud and Gary Williams; four sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Reese, Sheryl Brown (Morris), Tameka McCloud and Shaundra Stephens (Richard); two grandchildren, Kaden Games and Willoh Owens-Harvey; two special moms, Joan Stringer and Carolyn Stewart; one Godsister, Tamika Wright; one Goddaughter, Lauren Robertson; two special brothers, Darren Daniel (Yolaunda) and Travis Chambers (Kia) several other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

You were the best in every way you put forth your best effort and you love everyone you came across I'm so proud to call you my uncle you always put family first and you always were kind I love you so much you will be deeply missed you were my father, my Uncle, my advice giver I can always call you for anything as a little girl seeking for your advice we would talk for hours in front of everyone when you come home and you was always right there whenever I needed to talk to you brought so much life to people. I'm so sorry for your loss Mr Owens passing away. I been riding the Metra Bus for 8 yrs and he was so sweet to me and he always used to help me when I was either walking on crutches or anything like that. He going to be truly missed.
