Mrs. Angela Victoria Swanson passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the age of 70. She was born on December 13, 1953 to the late Charlie Oates and Verna Jackson Oates in Sacramento, CA.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Angela Swanson will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 beginning at 11:30 AM at St. Mary's United Methodist Church with interment being held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 1 - 5:00 PM at Progressive.
Our Beloved Angela Victoria Swanson was born in Sacramento, CA. December 13,
1953, to the Late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Verna Oates. She was an Air Force military
dependent and lived in Hawaii, Texas, and Homestead, Florida, then her father retired in
Columbus, Georgia where she completed her secondary education at Baker High
School. In high school, she met Rozell Swanson who would become her husband and
Soul Mate. She became a mother and briefly attended Columbus College where she
played volleyball.
While in Columbus, Georgia she worked at the old Fieldcrest Mills, Dolly Maddison, and
as a medical assistant in Nursing homes in Phenix City, AL. She also worked in
custodial services before completing her associate degree and becoming a Registered
Nurse retiring from Martin Army Hospital with 22 years of service in the ER and Med
Surg departments. The most meaningful career being a servant of God, devoted wife,
mother, and friend to her community.
As a military spouse, she moved her family to Hinesville near Ft. Stewart, Ft. Hood, Ft.
Rucker, Erlangen, and Frankfurt Germany.
She joined St Mary’s Road Methodist Church in Columbus, GA where she is an active
member of the church ministries and served faithfully until her health failed.
She entered into rest on Mother’s Day May 12, 2024, to a loving husband, Rozell
Swanson; Siblings, the late Yvonne Jones and David Oates (Robin) of New Hampshire;
Children, Dr. Rozales Swanson (Antoinette) of Tampa, Rozell Swanson and Rozalynn
Hill (Damien) of Columbus; grandchildren, DK, Maurice Longchallon, Demetrius
Swanson, Devante Swanson, Damien Hill Jr, Deja Swanson and Destiny Swanson;
nieces and nephews, Tonya Swanson, Charles Jones, Erica Foster (Ryan), Nikki Coley,
Damian Oates, Danielle Oates, and Patrick Pickens. Host of relatives and friends who
gracefully cared for her until the end and provide comfort in the next chapter.

I am so sorry to hear Ms Swanson has passed. I met Ms Swanson in Nov 1995 at MACH when I came transferred from Memphis to work at MACH she was the sweetest person. I will miss her very much. My Condolences and will be praying for her family. I worked with her on the 6th floor Medical Surgery Ward.
