Mrs. Angela Barker-Stevens passed away quietly Wednesday at her home at the age of 57.
A native of Columbus and the daughter of the late Jake E. Barker, Jr and Peggie King Barker, Angela was a 1982 graduate of Carver High School and received her Associates Degree from Columbus Technical College. She also did further studies at Columbus State University. She was employed in the Culinary Dept. at Hardaway High School as well as a Supervisor at Twin Cedars Youth Home. For many years she was a Crossing Guard for Muscogee County School District. She was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Stephaine Barker.
Survivors include her husband, Larry J. Stevens; two daughters, Erica Barker and Ashley Dyous; a sister, Contreana Barker-Pearson; a brother, Barry Barker; a grandson, Jacob Washington; a goddaughter, Serina Washington; a god-brother, Kemetrious Hector; a niece, Tynesha Hill-Zimon(Byron); two great nephews and one great niece, Jaiden, Jordan and Brooklynn; two aunts, Marjorie Barker-Jackson and Wanna Barker Wright(Benjamin); a uncle, Frank King; a brother-in-law, Russell Pearson; and a host of cousins and friends.
Mrs. Stevens will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 following a One Thirty PM Homegoing Celebration at the Chapel of Pinehurst Baptist Church with Rev. Donovan Coley officiating.
Visitation is Monday 2:00 til 5:00PM at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.

To hubby, Ashley and Erica. This will be hard but, know Angela belonged to the Lord and a great gift. She loved, smiled and loved her family. She was overjoyed when Kat brought Ashley to bible study at my home, an later she accepted Christ. She will be missed as I knew her and the love others speaks of, She encouraged me when I lost Kat who was like a mom than sister!! God's Amazing Grace!!! From my heart to yours. Sure a caring person with style & grace. Never saw a sad face, always a glowing smile, impeccable make up and hair styles. She welcomed me with open arms when I came to work at Hardaway. I will truly miss her, especially her posts on Facebook. Angela, you are truly loved
