Mr. Willie James Floyd, 60, of Riverdale, Georgia, formerly of Lanett, Alabama, transitioned on January 22, 2026, at Briarwood Health Facility, in Tucker, Georgia.
Funeral Services for Mr. Willie James Floyd will be held on Saturday,
January 31, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. EST in the sanctuary of Ebenezer Baptist
Church, 1006 North 10th Avenue, Lanett, Alabama 36863 with Rev. Alford
Booker, Eulogist. Interment will be held in the Hillcrest Cemetery,
3202 Country Club Road, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 2:30 p.m.
until 6:30 p.m. at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
On January 25, 1965, Willie James Floyd was born to parents Isaac Gibson, Jr., and Elma Floyd.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church; He was the President of the Junior Usher Board and served with the Crusaders.
Willie was a graduate of Lanett High School class of 1984. He was number 77 on the Lanett High School Football Team. He was a loving father to two children, Ashley and Chryston Floyd.
In 1986, Willie joined the United States Navy, serving for seven years and was later employed by J & J Trucking Company.
Willie was a die-hard Auburn fan and enjoyed playing pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Isaac Askew and Gregory Gibson, and grandparents, Minnie L. Floyd, John Floyd, Isaac Gibson, Sr., and Lucille Robinson Gibson.
Willie transitioned on January 22, 2026, at Briarwood Health Facility, in Tucker, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Ashley and Chryston Floyd; two granddaughters, Aliyah and Skylar; brother, John Rodger Floyd; sister, Dorothy Floyd, siblings, Valarie Cammon, Dexter Gibson, and Derrick Gibson; a devoted companion, Rita Thomas; aunts, Nancy and Annette Gibson; special friends, Zelda Patterson, Navy Shipmates, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
