Obituary For Ulysses “Foot” AKA “Mac” McLemore, Jr.

Ulysses McLemore, Jr., was born on August 26, 1951, to Mary Edna and Ulysses McLemore, Sr., in Langdale, Alabama. Surrounded by his loved ones, he transitioned peacefully on December 4, 2024, at Wellstar Hospice Center in LaGrange, Georgia.

“Foot” or “Mac,” as he was lovingly called, was the third of four siblings, the baby boy. As a child, he attended Sardis Methodist Church and later joined Pilgrim Baptist Church where he remained until his passing.

Foot attended Lanier High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1969. He then furthered his education at Troup Tech Vocational School with a certification as a master electrician and certified appliance tech. He went to work as an electrician for West Point Pepperell where he retired after 28 years of service.

Along his journey, Mac picked up the love for photography, and that was the start of “Click-1.” Once he picked up the camera, he perfected a craft like none had ever seen before. Self-taught, he mastered the craft of photography, which he made into his second-largest career, “Photography by McLemore.” The building on the corner of Downtown West Point, Georgia, was the central spot for thousands of people near and far for all their photography needs. Easter, Weddings, Proms, Christmas, family photos, senior portraits, “Glamour Shots,” he did it all! Everyone knew McLemore and that camera! He was a jack of all trades: a mechanic, a carpenter, a tailor, a designer, and an artist, among many other talents. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do! His final retirement was from Delta Airlines as an electrician.

Ulysses was preceded in death by his mother, Mary McLemore; father, Ulysses McLemore, Sr.; and sister, Joyce Parker.

Left to honor his legacy are his children, Kameko McLemore of Lanett, Alabama, Domunquia (Charlie) Jefferson of Phenix City, Alabama, Demetrious Willis of Phenix City, Alabama, and Nayati (ShaBrittany) McLemore of Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Andrecia (Justin) Gilliam of West Point, Georgia, Andre’ Gilliam, Jr., of West Point, Georgia, De’Arveon Jefferson of Phenix City, Alabama, and Omarion Jefferson of Phenix City, Alabama; great-grandchildren, De’Nija Williams of LaGrange, Georgia, Maklynn Emfinger, RaeLeigh Hardnett, and Jayden Phillips of West Point, Georgia; brother, Samuel McLemore of Lanett, Alabama; sister, Roslyn (Willie) Murry of Lanett, Alabama; special niece, Sonji S. (Herbert) Willingham of Huntsville, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ulysses “Foot” AKA “Mac” will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 420 North 12th Avenue, Lanett, Alabama 36863 with Dr. Frederick James, Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Leonard Autry, assisting.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, 3202 Country Club Road, Lanett, Alabama 36863.

Public viewing will be on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
