Mrs. Ruby Dean Summers, 79, of Lanett, AL transitioned on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.
Mrs. Ruby Dean Summers was born June 9, 1940 to the parentage of the late Mr. O'Neal Martin Sr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Martin. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA.
Ruby joined Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age ,where she was a faithful member and worked with several auxiliaries.
She received her education at Lanier High School, where she was a member of the class of 1958 and later furthered her career in nursing in Alabama and Georgia.
She was married to Leroy Summers. Into this union three sons were born, two proceeded her in death.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memories: a loving devoted husband, Leroy Summers; one son, Michael (Tammy) Summers; one granddaughter, Porsha Summers Howell; two grandsons, William LeBron Howell, Michael McCants; 19 great grandchildren; three sisters, Alvree Welch, Carrie Wilson, Jelizabeth (Rev. Arthur) Jackson Jr.; three brothers, Clarence Cofield, Rev. Benny Tucker, Ralph Cofield; one brother in- law, Rev. Curtis Johnson; three sisters- in- law, Mattie (James) Carlton, Mimmie Hutchinson and Lizzie P. Clark; several nieces, nephews, and an array of family and friends.
Due to current restrictions, a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Dr. Frederick D. James, officiating. There will not be a public viewing.

Mrs. Ruby I will miss talking to you. Thank you for all the encouraging words of wisdom that you blessed me with. I thank God for strong women like you who kept it REAL. Sometimes the things you said I didn't want to hear or except, but they made me a better person. Thank you mamma Ruby. It is with great sorry and sadness we mourn the death of our Dear Sister Ruby Summers, we will always remember her and Cherish the memories, she will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace.
