Mr. Ronnie James, age 63, of West Point, GA transitioned on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, GA.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. ET, Saturday, May 16, 2020 in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Pastor Hutchinson, Eulogist, Pastor Jackie Banks, Overseer G. L. Fanning and Pastor Winston Fanning, assisting.
Public viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Ronnie James was born October 12,1956 in Troup County, GA to the late Melvin Ward, Sr. and Cora Mae Jackson. He gained his wings to eternal rest on May 6, 2020 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, GA.
Ronnie received his education in the West Point Public School System, where he was a member of the West Point High School graduating class of 1974. After high school, Ronnie enlisted and served in the U. S. Army. Shortly after serving in the Army, Ronnie returned home to serve his community with his talent and carpentry skills.
In his free time, Ronnie enjoyed building things and spending time with family and friends.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and second father,Theodore Jackson.
His memories will forever be cherished by his two daughters: Valinda Norman and Tiffany Carr, LaGrange, GA, as well as, two daughters in Detroit MI; his special significant other, Shirley Jackson and three step kids, Kizzy Jackson, Lanett AL,Tyree (Mary) Jackson, LaGrange, GA; Jeremy (Carmen)Jackson, West Point GA; four sisters, Sharon (Reginald) Blessett, West Point, GA, Sheila (late Melvin)Barnes, Lanett, AL, Michel-lea Mathis-Porter, Decatur GA, and Chandra Green, Atlanta GA; five brothers, Gregory (late Cherry) Jackson,LaGrange, GA, Kenneth (late Bernice)Jackson, Jeffery Jackson, Melvin L Ward, and Warren B. Ward all of West Point, GA; four grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter, a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
