Mr. Richard “Tan” Fears, age 68, of Valley, AL transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his residence.
Richard Fears was born April 27, 1952 to the late Willie Pete Fears Sr. and Eddie Ruth Fears in Chambers County, AL. “Tan”, as he was known to many, received his education in the West Point School System, where he was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Harrison High School. He was a standout basketball player and he enjoyed watching sports. Richard was employed by West Point Stevens for over 25 years. He retired from Hyundai- Glovis in West Point, GA with many years of service. He was a member of St. John Community Baptist Church, Lanett, AL. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hyburnia Fears; his brothers and sisters ,Theresa Cook, Elizabeth Walker, Willie Pete Fears Jr., Robert Lee Fears and Beverly Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, LaShawta (Connery)Booker and two sons, Hrabosky Fears and Devonta Fears; granddaughters, Mikaela Booker and Brianna Fears; sister, Eddie Mae(George)Williams; aunts, Julia(Cecil) Rushton , Doris(Robert) Robinson of Buffalo, NY ,Nell Fears of Anniston, AL; uncle ,Norman Fears of Buffalo, NY, nieces and nephews ,Angela Reed, James Fears, Terence Walker, Adrian Fears Bell, Valerie Heard, Cynthia Gilder, Lamar Murphy, Cothesia Jackson Wilson, Fred Jackson, Maya Jackson, Amber Jackson and Amelia Jackson, whom he loved dearly, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, May 16, 2020 in the St. John Community Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Dowdell, Eulogist and Elder Robert Brock, Assisting.
Public viewing will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
