Mr. Quentin Artenas Reed, the only child of the late Mrs. Louise Bonner Young was born on March 22, 1956 in New York, NY. He was called from this earthly home on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Quentin was a member of the 1974 graduating class of Lanett High School. He received his B.S. Degree in Computer Science in 1979 from Alabama A&M University in Normal, AL where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He later received his MBA from the University of Phoenix in 1996. He also studied AutoCAD (Commercial Computer-Aided Design and Drafting Program) at West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange, GA. He did contractual work as a Business Consultant at H. L.Yoh Co., LLC, Philadelphia, PA, as a System Analyst at CONTROL DATA in Bloomington, MN, in Denver, CO.,.and at Bank of America in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, AAMU Alumni Association and Fairfax Lodge #876.
Quentin had a strong spiritual foundation and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He joined the St. John Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. C. C. Cloud where he has remained a faithful member until his death. He was a Deacon, a member of the Male Choir, served as Treasurer of the Finance Committee and often assisted the Cuisine Committee for special occasions. He volunteered each month with the Bowen East District’s Fish & Loaves Ministry.
Quentin loved his family. He was always eager to have family gatherings for all holidays and was one of the master chefs and bakers of the family.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, John A. Young, his grandmother, Mrs. Pearl B. Cosby and his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Freeman (Geneva) Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memories many cousins including his caretakers: Deborah B. Johnson, Aleatha King, Cantrece Nelson, Alysia (Kaven) King Mwikuta all of Lanett, AL, Jurea Govan, LaGerald Bonner, Valley, AL, Ashley (Demetrious) Rampey, LaFayette, AL, and other special cousins, Marie Mills and Albert Williams, Columbus, Ohio, Rosella Avery, Gabriel McCants, Valley, AL, Audrey Bonner, Cincinnati, OH, Patricia Bonner, Lakewood, WA, John A. McCants, Sacramento, CA, Douglas (Jannie) Bonner, Huntsville, AL, Rev. Jack (Linda) Wilson, Columbia, SC, Walter (Abigail) Bonner, Five Points, AL and many other cousins and friends.
Graveside Services for Mr. Reed will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the St. John Cemetery.

My sincere sympathy go out to the Reed and Bonner family. Quentin was a faithful member of the Bowen East District team that supported the Fishes and Loaves food giveaway ministry. He was also, a supporter of Chambers County A&M Alumni Chapter. He will be missed for all his community service.

You were my friend and ever constant tutor. I am well aware my hard headed thinking often made instructing me difficult, but you were dedicated to helping me maneuver the beginning stages of entering college courses. A quick witted funny fellow with patience of a saint and truly a good man. You will be missed my friend. Jr came in today with news of your passing with a heavy heart for your loss. He and I are both grateful to have known you. Rest in heaven friend and tell Mrs. Carter we think if her often. Much love
