Ms. Minnie C. “Ms. Hunt” Murphy, age 100, of West Point, GA, gained her wings into heavenly rest on June 29, 2025 at her residence.
Funeral Services for Ms. Minnie C. “Ms. Hunt” Murphy will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. EST in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1111 East 10th Street, West Point, GA 31833 with Rev. Travis D. Porter, II, Officiant, Rev. Stan J. Tucker, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Austin Street, West Point, GA.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, July 4, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. EST until 6:00 p.m. EST at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
A Centennial ago, Ms. Minnie C. “Ms. Hunt” Murphy, the daughter of Eva Hurston, was born on January 6, 1925 in Fredonia, Chambers County, Alabama. Surrounded by loved ones, she peacefully entered into heavenly eternal rest on June 29, 2025 at her residence.
Minnie accepted Christ at an early age and united with the New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend O.D. Hill. At New Mt. Pleasant, she served as President of the Usher Board, President of the Missionary Society, a member of the kitchen committee and where ever she was needed. She was always willing to be of service to others.
“Ma”, Ms Hunt”, as she was affectionately known by the her children, grandchildren and the community, was a very caring, loving , faithful lady with an outpouring spirit that made anyone’s day that stop by to pay her a visit.
She was full of knowledge and wisdom. She often shared wisdom with those seeking advice. One would enjoy visiting her and listening to her share her many years of history. She was a true QUEEN CENTENARIAN. Her family was blessed to witness five generations; children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Minnie was predeceased in death by her husband, George Willie Murphy, Sr.; a daughter, Glady “Bit” Johnson; and grandchildren, Johnny Wortham, Contessa Davidson, Tabious Frazier and Ancion Wallace.
She leaves to cherished her precious memories seven daughters, Linda Wortham, Atlanta, Georgia; Eva Benjamin, Sarah Murphy, Georgia Stafford, Gail Murphy, Carolyn Murphy all of West Point, GA and Sharon(Reverend Stan) Tucker, LaGrange, Georgia; two sons, George(Gloria) Murphy, Jr. , Columbus, GA, and Vincent(Diane)Murphy, West Point, Georgia; 34 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; 34 great great grandchildren and the entire community of West Point, Georgia
