“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
Melva Alisia Johnson Roberts was born on July 20, 1955, to the late Dorise Reed and Bettye Graham. She departed this life on February 18, 2026, at home surrounded by her family in West Point, GA.
At an early age, Melva accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.
Melva was a proud graduate of West Point High School Red Raiders Class of 1973, where she participated in the marching band. Melva furthered her studies and became a Chef at the Culinary Institute of Virginia.
She found joy in many creative pursuits, including dancing, singing, and modeling, but cooking was where her heart truly came alive. Melva, also, had an eye for fashion and curated her own sense of style. Above all her passions, the greatest love she carried was the deep and unwavering love she held for her family.
Melva was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, W.C. Johnson, Sr.; brothers, Terrell Johnson, Melvin Tucker; sisters, Jerolyn Johnson, Vicky Potts; and sister-in-law, Satunja “Toot” Johnson.
Melva leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, John L. Roberts Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Jelaine Roberts, West Point, GA; three sons, Dorise Deuntae Roberts, Boston, MA, Lewis Roberts and Justin Roberts of West Point, GA; one sister, Zinn Johnson, West Point, GA; five brothers, Reginald Johnson, Julius Johnson, William Johnson, Vance Johnson, and Scottie Davidson, all of West Point, GA; she ,also, leaves five grandchildren, Deonbreye Roberts-Huguley, Daquayrius Roberts-Huguley, Caltavious Roberts, Tybious Roberts, and Jakari Murphy; twelve great-grandchildren; a special sister, Pamela Johnson Chambers; a special friend, Kenneth “Hard Rock” Jackson, and an immeasurable number of family members and friends who cherished her deeply.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
