Margie Ann Huguley Billingslea, born November 8, 1943, to the late George and Ida Huguley in West Point, Troup County, Georgia, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley, Alabama.
Margie was a proud graduate of Harrison High School in West Point, Georgia. Early in her career, she worked in textiles at Chalk Line and West Point Stevens (Fairview Plant). With a passion for beauty and style, she later pursued studies in Cosmetology at West Georgia Technical College, LaGrange, Georgia.
She devoted nearly 50 years as a dedicated member of the ValleyArea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, passionately sharing the good news of the Kingdom with her friends, family and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur L. Billingslea, and her brothers, Burlon and Willie Rufus Huguley.
Margie, affectionately known as “Momma” to her six devoted sons, was the heart of her family: her sons, Zerman Billingslea of Brookhaven, Georgia, Michael Billingslea of San Francisco, California, Rodney (Michelle) Billingslea of Fairburn, Georgia, Carlos Billingslea of LaGrange, Georgia; Ezekiel (Carrie) Billingslea of West Point, Georgia, and Jason Billingslea of Opelika, Alabama, cherished her love and warmth.
Margie loved family gatherings, often hosting dinners where her delicious pound cakes became a family favorite.
Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who treasured their time with Grandma, learning from her wisdom and sharing in her love. Margie shared a special and enduring bond with her siblings: sisters, Mattie Godwin of West Point, Georgia and Virginia Barnes of West Point, Georgia; and brothers, Willie F. Huguley of Marrero, Louisiana and Eddie Huguley of Opelika, Alabama; her sister-in-law, Gloria Billingslea of Buffalo, New York, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Margie’s life was a testament to love, family, and community. Her nurturing spirit, vibrant personality, and the joy she brought to those around her will be profoundly missed.
