Mary Jane Tucker Moncrief was born on June 18, 1939 to Nannie Mae Allen of LaFayette, Alabama and Joe Tucker of Atlanta, Georgia. “Mae Jane,” as she was known, passed on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Florence Hand Nursing Home, LaGrange, GA.
Mae was a baptized Jehovah Witness and attended the Congregation in Valley Alabama.
In May of 1961, she married Mr. Willie Moncrief, who remained a loving and devoted husband until his passing on February 1, 2012.
Mae was known to be very hardworking, strong willed, and determined throughout her life. She was very dedicated to her family and always did what was necessary to make sure her family was safe and provided for. Mae was known to have a big heart and was always willing to help anyone she met. She was so easy to love. She enjoyed spending time in her ministry work, as a result, two very special people to her during her life chose to follow her footsteps and become Jehovah Witnesses. Mae also had a special fascination for trains. She was so into trains she would sometimes follow them from one stop to another and knew what time the train was scheduled to arrive. She was truly special.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Nannie Mae Allen and Joe Tucker.
Mae’s Life and Legacy will always be remembered and remain in the hearts of her loved ones: her loving daughter, Julia (Tommy) Meadows; six grandchildren, Earnest Ladrago Moncrief, Eddie S. Cammon, Joseph M. Cammon, Cashondra (Joel) Jones, and Willie M. Harris; siblings, Ida Bell Williams and Anderson”June Bug” Brooks, Jr. ; sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
