Mr. Jim E. Billingslea (95) of Lanett, Alabama, gained his wings into eternal rest, at his residence on June 2, 2026
Mr. Jim Earnest Billingslea, the son of the late Amos and Betsy Bonner Billingslea, was born on July 22, 1930, in Chambers County Alabama. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at his residence.
Jim accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a member of the deacon board, Sunday school teacher, and superintendent until his health failed. He was instrumental in establishing the celebration of members’ birthdays.
He was a textile worker employed with the Lanett Bleachery and Dye in Lanett Alabama from where he retired with 50 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Pearl Patton Billingslea, his parents and his three loving brothers, John Lewis, Bob Henry, and LC Billingslea. Less than twenty-four hours following Jim’s death, his loving daughter, Gloria Fearn, of Valley, Alabama departed this life on June 3, 2026, at EAMC-Lanier, Valley, Alabama.
Jim leaves to celebrate his homegoing and cherish his memory: two loving and devoted daughters, Marjorie (Alfonzo) Edwards, Birmingham, Alabama and Americus (Earl) McCoy, Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Mary Alice Billingslea, Lanett, Alabama; two brothers, Charlie Billingslea and Alfred Billingslea both of Lanett, Alabama; two sisters-in-love, Luneda Billingslea and Barbara Billingslea, both of Lanett, Alabama; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
At the family’s request, there will not be a Public Viewing
Mr. Billingslea will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
