Mr. Jamarius “Jay” Marquez Spence, the first-born son of Rev. Jerome and Tonya Mitchell Spence, was born August 28, 1986 in Chambers County, AL. He unexpectedly transitioned on March 6, 2024 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA.
“Jay” as he was known by many, was 2004 graduate of Horseshoe Bend High School in New Site, AL where he played basketball, football, and track. Also, he attended Alabama State University and Auburn University.
Jamarius joined Baskin Chapel AME Zion Dadeville, AL under the Leadership of his father. He was a natural born talented drummer and played for several churches.
He was a die-heart Auburn Tigers football fan.
He was very ambitious, outgoing, jovial whenever he was around, you can count on him making you laugh.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. Johnny Trammell and Ms. Ethel Mae Spence; maternal grandparents, Ms. Shirley Ann Jones and Mr. Bruce Mitchell.
Jamarius leaves to cherish his memories his only loving son, Amari Spence; his devoted father and mother, Rev. Jerome and Tonya Spence; three brothers, Zaccheaus Spence, Joran Spence, and Daequones Spence; one sister, Spirit Spence; five uncles, Bobby (Nikita) Trammell, John W. Trammell, Michael Trammell, Glenn Askew and Tony Jones; four aunts, Tammy (Chris) Grogan, Laura Hill, Nina Cotton and Robin Webb; three nephews, Dylan Spence, Amir Spence and Jace Spence; two nieces Khloe Spence and Kynsley Spence; an array of great aunts & uncles, cousins, friends, and special members of the family, Jim and Shirley Bailey.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1111 E. 10th Street, West Point, GA with the Overseer G. L. Fanning, Officiating, Bishop Donald Lancaster, Eulogist, Rev. Rufus Smith, Rev. Anthony Shealey, Rev. Ronnie Jones and Rev. John Flournoy, assisting. Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery, 400-489 E. 12th Street, West Point, GA.
Public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. ET until 6:00 p.m. ET at the mortuary.
