Ms. Hattie O. Hightower, age 96, of Lanett, AL, entered into heavenly eternal rest on July 6, 2025 at EAMC-Opelika, AL.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hattie O. Hightower will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. EST in the sanctuary of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 420 North 12th Avenue, Lanett, Alabama, 36863.
Interment will follow in the Pinehill Cemetery, 2235 22nd Avenue, SW, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
Public viewing will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. EST until 6:00 p.m. EST at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
A TIME TO BE BORN
Hattie Hightower, the daughter of the late Harry and
Nancy Huguley, was born on August 23, 1928, in Chambers
County, Alabama.
A TIME TO WORSHIP
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Evening
Spring Baptist Church of Lanett, Alabama, under the
leadership of Pastor Elijah Jackson. She served on the Usher
Board, Culinary Committee and in the Choir.
A TIME TO WORK
Hattie worked for West Point Stevens for many years until
retirement.
A TIME TO LOVE
She met and fell in love with Joe Frank Hightower, and later,
they united in holy matrimony.
A TIME TO DEPART
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, she entered eternal rest at the East
Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, surrounded
by her loved ones. Hattie is preceded in death by her parents,
husband Joe Frank Hightower and a host of siblings
A TIME TO MOURN
A lifetime of wonderful memories are left to her children,
Gloria (Johnny) Hill, Roland (Irene) Huguley, Toney (San)
Talley, Charles (Tina) Talley, Cynthia Huguley, Rita (Sevelta)
Bass, Joseph (Merilyn) Hightower, and Tracie (Victor)
Lockhart; a niece that she reared as her own, Ollie Lewis; three
grandchildren whom she reared as her own, Larry Huguley,
Takia Huguley and Keon Huguley; 24 grandchildren, 62
great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren; a host
of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Velma Barnes,
Barbara Booker Demry, Rosemary P-Henderson, and Paulette
Pollard.
