Mr. Harold Gilliam was born on October 6, 1949 to the late Thelma Gilliam and Howard Williams, Sr., in West Point, Troup County, Georgia. Assisting in rearing Harold was Estella and James Gilliam. He departed his earthly home on August 18, 2023 at his residence in West Point, GA.
“Scrap Iron,” as he was known by many, received his education in the West Point City Schools, where he attended Harrison High School. He was employed by the West Point Housing Authority in his younger years.
He acknowledged Christ as his Savior early on in life. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his best friend, Jennifer McCullough; his sisters
Deborah Johnson, Angela Williams, Virginia Walker, and his brother-in-law, Earl Jones.

McCullough, Harold Slaughter, and his stepdaughter, Latoyal McCullough; siblings, Lavorne Jones, Mary Patillo, Wanda (Daniel) Williams, Robert (Lee)Williams, Howard (Aurelia) Williams, Jr.; grandson, Tmorion Andrews; uncles, Wilbur Gilliam and Tommy Gilliam; aunt, Linda Young; special cousins /friends, Clint Bailey, Roy Davidson, Hubert Bailey, Landon Ward, Johnny Hill, and Annie Penn and of host nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. W.T. Edmondson, Pastor, Rev. Adrian T. Frazier, Eulogist and Overseer G. L. Fanning, assisting.
Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery.
At the family’s request, there will not be a public viewing.
