Obituary For Gussie Louise Core
Gussie Louise Madden Core was born on Sept. 6, 1933 to the late Willie and Annie Madden in Lee County, AL. She departed this Earthy life for her heavenly home on Nov. 5, 2023 at the Diversicare Nursing Home and Rehab Facility in Lanett, AL.
Gussie received her formal education through the Chambers County School system. She also received nursing training and became a nurse at the George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, now known as EAMC. She retired from there after 18 years of service in the emergency room and ending her career in their nursing home facility.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Valley, AL. She attended there until her health failed her.
Gussie met and married the late Booker T. Core. Together they had six children. She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby J. Core; four brothers, Robert, O.D., Fred and Ned and one sister, Rebecca Vaughn.
Her amazing life will forever be cherished by her one son, Billy L. Core, Valley, AL; four daughters, Annie L. (Willie) Evans, Fairburn, GA, Loretta L. Core, Auburn, AL, Priscilla D. (Timothy) Lynch, and Paige P. Core, Lanett, AL; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Corsby Calhoun, Nettie Curtis, Ella Mae Dunn, and Lillie (Haynie) McCullough; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Core will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 12:00 (Noon) ET in the sanctuary of the New Dimensions Worship Center, 5610 20th Avenue, Valley, Alabama 36854 with Bishop Donald Lancaster, Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Dr. Frederick James, Min. Lisa Askew, Min. Tamalita D. Autry, assisting. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery, 2235 22nd Avenue, SW, Lanett, AL 36863
Public viewing will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
Final Arrangement entrusted to M. W. Lee Mortuary.
