Mr. Gregory T. “Baba” Avery, 69, of Valley, AL, transitioned on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at EAMC, Opelika, AL.
Gregory T. Avery, lovingly known as “BayBay,” was born on October 19, 1956, in Chambers County to the parentage of Joe (Sr.) and Mattie Avery. He was a gentleman with a radiant spirit whose life touched many through laughter, kindness, and unwavering love.
Gregory was a devoted member of Sweet Hope CME, Gregory; he brought joy and laughter to many with his warm spirit and memorable sense of humor.
Gregory lived his life with strength and compassion. In his later years, he worked as a car detailer at Walker Body Shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joe Avery Jr., Charles Avery, Richard Avery, and Al Avery.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Jackie Avery; his beloved children, Tiunda “Dino” (Kesha) Evans of LaGrange, LaGredric “Binkie” Avery of Tennessee, Afton Avery of Lanett, and Raven Avery (Andrew Williams) of Lanett; four stepchildren, Latonya (Willie) Grier, Lakastia Summers, Martez Summers, and Torrez Summers; he leaves a lasting legacy through his grandchildren, LaWhitney Evans, Neyah Lowe, Chase Nyair Lowe, Nylah Lowe, Daghia Williams, Dominic Williams, Dawsyn Williams, Jade Avery, Zenah Avery, Autumn Avery, Dylan Avery (Ziah Sheldon), Jordan Hudson, Payden Peterson, and Nolen Avery; his great-grandchild, Zaylee Grace Avery; and step-great-grandchild, B’asia Core; his siblings, Douglas (Dorothy) Avery and Shirley Bradshaw both of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of cherished in-laws,Ethel “Vickie” Wilcox of Atlanta, Lisa Cheeks of Lanett, Daniel (Wanda) Williams of LaFayette, Roger (Freda) Williams , Jimmy (Moleka) Williams, Clementine (Bennie) Hutchinson, Sandra (Jessie) Jones, Roslyn “Tussy” Lockhart, Clenteria Porter all of Lanett, Alabama,Deborah (Harold) Ward of Indianapolis, Alice Willis of LaFayette, and Merian (Hayne) Harrison, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
