Obituary For Effie “ Tink” English
Ms. Effie “ Tink” English, 74, Lanett, AL, transitioned on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at her residence.
Ms. Effie English was the daughter of the late David Lee Wilks Floyd and Sadie G. Floyd was born on March 9, 1949, in Chambers County, AL. On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, the angels of heaven stood by her bedside and whispered, "Come drive the holy bus."
“Tink,” as she was known to many, accepted Christ at an early age and united with the St. James Baptist Church.
She enjoyed her job as a school bus driver for the Chambers County School District. She loved shopping, playing bingo and holding lengthy conversations with family and friends. She enjoyed sending quality time with her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carolyn "Dusty" Sanders; great-grandson, Kalim "Worm" Strum; sister, Parthenia White, and brother, Dosia Floyd.
Effie leaves her children to cherish her memories, Stephenia B.(Charlie) Cameron , Jeffery Johnson, Cletus Bailey, and Robert Bailey; siblings, Vivian Rhodes, Dorothy McClure, Linda(Gregory) Peterson, Sadie Holloway, Lucille Jones, David Floyd, and Joe Willie Floyd; grandchildren, Yasmeen Bailey, T'shombe Core, Annaleishia Bailey, Shumbria Bailey, Tytiunna Bailey; four extended grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her three amigos', Anner Simmons, Brenda Fears, Timothy Huguely, and family friend, Cathy Gibson, with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services for Ms. English will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. EDT in the sanctuary of the St. James Baptist Church 2028 31st Street, SW, Lanett, AL 36863, with Rev. John Flournoy, Pastor, Bishop Bertha Hodge, Eulogist, Rev. Timothy Huguley and Rev Jackie Potts, assisting.
Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
