Mr. Edward Glenn Ramsey, 67, of Valley, AL, transitioned on December 9, 2023 at his residence.
Mr. Edward Glenn Ramsey was born to the late Elijah Ramsey, Sr. and Alzata Reid Ramsey on December 16, 1955 in Chambers County, Alabama. He and his siblings were blessed to have the loving arms of their grandmother, Della Bledsoe Reid Alexander, as a constant source of support to the entire family. As he was called into the Kingdom of God on December 9, 2023, he was surely greeted by his parents, grandparents and siblings, Caroline Ramsey, Macon Calhoun Ramsey I, Adele Ramsey Biggs, Judith Ramsey Hutchinson, and Elijah Ramsey, Jr. all of whom preceded him in death.
At birth, the doctors’ predictions were grim for Ed, however, The Lord had other plans for the life of his precious child. During his extraordinary 67 years on this earth, Ed joined Rehoboth Baptist Church at an early age where he attended Sunday school, was a member of the choir, The Crusaders Youth Group, The Sunbeam Band, Boy Scouts Troop #60, and The Fairfax Civic Club. Ed enjoyed and served happily in these functions within the life of the church. In further surpassing these expectations, he attended Rehobeth School, Valley High School, and Valley Haven.
In 1976 Ed graduated from Valley High School and attended Valley Haven for an astounding 47 years! During his long attendance at Valley Haven, Ed enjoyed a variety of activities that included bowling, fishing, dancing and serving others. He was the President of People Come First and a top fund-raiser for the annual Hike-Bike Run for many years, all of which were sources of great pride for Ed, his family and his community at large. Earlier this year Ed’s health began to decline, causing him to leave his beloved Valley Haven.
In the last several months of his life, as his health continued to worsen, it was his sisters, Mrs. Linda Ramsey Towles & Mrs. Clemmie Ramsey, and brothers, Mr. Ben Ramsey and Mr. Alvan Ramsey, that were his devoted care team right up to his call home to be with The Lord.
He leaves to cherish his life, legacy and memory, Harriett Ramsey Bates, Linda Ramsey Towles (Dennis), Ben Ramsey, Alvan Ramsey (Clemmie), Lula Ramsey, Allen Cullwell (Bernice) and host of nieces, nephews and other family friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Rehoboth Baptist Church, 206 Huguley Road, Valley, AL 36854, with Rev. Karanja Story, Pastor, Rev. Vernon Carter, Officiant, Rev. Alvan Ramsey, Eulogist and Rev. L.C Thomas, assisting.

Mr Ed rode my mom's bus when she worked at Valley Haven for many years. I would go with her on her route and help out at the school in the summer time. Mr Ed would always get on the bus smiling and happy to see everyone! He will be missed!
