Mr. Eddie “ Poochie” Roy Thomas Jr., the son of the late Sallie Kate Ferrell Mitchell and the late Eddie Roy Thomas Sr., was born on January 27, 1962 in Chambers County, Alabama. He departed this life on September 23, 2022 at Diversicare of Lanett, Lanett, AL.
“Poochie” as he was known, confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, Alabama. He attended the West Point Public School System, where he was a member of the 1981 graduating class.
Eddie previously was employed with the City of West Point and West Point Stevens for several years. “Poochie” was a person of very few words. He enjoyed walking and socializing with only a few people. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George H. Brooks. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: one sister, Katie (Calvin) Loftin, Detroit, MI, two brothers, Jerry (Martha) Brooks and Richard (Jacqueline) Brooks both of Lanett, AL; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends; special friend and caregiver, Lucy Morgan.
Funeral Services for Mr. Eddie Roy Thomas, Jr. will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 2:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m. ET at the mortuary.
