As we reflect on the life of MRS. CHRISTINE “CHRIS”
THOMAS HARRIS, thoughts of love, joy, peace, and wisdom
come to our minds. She was born on May 13, 1954, in Chambers
County, Alabama, to the late Mrs. Mary Louise Booker and the
late Mr. Johnny Lee Thomas.
For seventy-one years, she gave herself to her family, and then on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, this loving and caring voice silenced as she entered eternal rest.
Mrs. Harris loved the Lord and was a steadfast servant of God.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined the Saint James
Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. L.
Winters. She was presently a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership
of Reverend Dr. Fredrick James. She loved her church very dearly
and served faithfully.
Mrs. Harris was employed by the Lanett City School System, where she retired with over 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Joe Harris; parents;
siblings, Lorine Thomas, Gregory Thomas, and Jerry Thomas;
grandson, Terry "Fat" Thomas; great-grandson, Aiden Thomas;
and three aunts, Reba Booker, Eva Marshall, and Bettye White.
A legacy of love is entrusted with the following survivors:
her children, Mary Joyce (Malcolm) Thomas, Tunitha (John)
Davidson, and Jonathan (Ashley) Lyman; grandchildren, Shaniqua (Matt)
Damron, Reneshia Davidson, Janecia Davidson, Judah Lyman,
and Jermani Lyman; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Thomas
and Nolan Damron; siblings, Karen (Harold) Frazier, Beulah
(Terrence) Doby, Eula Swiney, Marilyn Thomas (Val) Knight;
aunts, Jimmy Ruth Booker and Dorothy Heard; uncle, Elmer
