Mrs. Carrie Atkinson, age 65, gained her wings into eternal rest on Saturday, May 14, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, GA.
On Friday, January 27, 1956, Felix Gilbert, Sr. and Mattie Will Page Gilbert welcomed a baby girl who they named Carrie Lee. She was the seventh child born to this union.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at an early age at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, where Dr. Lamar Johnson currently serves as Pastor. "Cat", as she was affectionately known was a graduate of Valley High School and attended Opelika Technical College
Carrie was united in holy matrimony with Arthur Atkinson, Sr. To this union three children were born, Crystal, Arthur Jr. and Dominique.
She was employed at Hanes Hosiery, in Lagrange, Georgia for over 25 years and was later employed with Twin Cedars for many years until her health declined. Carrie enjoyed cooking and preparing meals so much that she, along with her sister and niece started MVC Catering Service. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mollie Mae Gilbert, Felix Gilbert, Jr., Maureen Hargett, Mary Varner and Charlie Lee Gilbert.
On Saturday, May 14, 2021 God sent his loving angels go give her eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband; Arthur Atkinson, Sr., a daughter Crystal (Corey) Warner, two sons; Arthur Atkinson, Jr (Arlalle Bledsoe) and Dominique Atkinson (Sasha Bratton), three grandchildren; Caisley Bledsoe, Aason Atkinson and Mackenzie Bratton, one brother; George Gilbert, sisters-in-law; Helen Gilbert, Deborah Gilbert, and Eloise Patton, brothers-in-law; Sandy Atkinson and Demarco Atkinson, Aunts; Sarah Ann Starks and Mamie Lee Page, Uncle; Timothy Page, nieces, nephews and many devoted relatives and friends
