With deep love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. Brenda S. Buckner.
Daughter of the late Leon and Annie Carol Buckner, Brenda was born on March 17, 1958, in Troup County, Georgia.
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Well-Star Hospice, LaGrange, Georgia, the angels of Heaven stood by her bedside and whispered,
“Come with me for eternal rest.”
At an early age, Brenda accepted Christ and united with Keeney Memorial United Methodist Church, West Point, Georgia, later changing her membership to New Harmony CME Church, where she served as a faithful member.
Brenda received her education in the West Point Public School System, where she was a proud member of the West Point High class of 1976.
“Popeye,” as she was known by many, was a lovable person, a lady of strength, and never met a stranger. She loved everybody and made it known; it was her laughter that held her family together. Brenda enjoyed dancing, spending time with family and friends, and caring for others. She was always giving with love and welcomed everyone to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Annie Carol Buckner; sisters, Debra and Marie Buckner; brother, Keith Buckner; grandson, DaMarcus Buckner; maternal grandparents, Cal and A. C. Smith; paternal grandparents, Otis and Sarah Buckner; aunts, Sarah Mae Frazier, Lucile Milton, Lorene Buckner, and Diane Buckner; uncles, Billie Joe, Edward Buckner, Dan Buckner, Willie C. Buckner, and Lewis Buckner.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memories and resilience:
Her children, Lakeisa Buckner, Renata Buckner, and Cudallas Buckner, all of West Point, Georgia;
Six grandchildren: Charnesia, Lakeithin, ZaQuareia, Frederick, Terralyn, and Taryn;
Seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Mikayla, Mikell, Kyan, Mazi, Gaia, and Kahari.
Brenda is also survived by her siblings:
Patricia Williams, Leon Buckner, Sarah Johnson, Wanda Buckner, and Melissa Buckner, all of West Point, Georgia; David (Maurice) Buckner of Valley, Alabama, and Kenneth (LaTonya) Buckner of Newnan, Georgia; Aunts: Delores Smith, Bernice Smith of Bronx, New York, and Geraldine Buckner of Camphill, Alabama; Uncle: Kelvin Smith Harlem of New York; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and a bonus granddaughter, Kynerria Crowley.
