Ms. Bernice Mitchell, 81, of Lanett, Alabama, gained her wings into eternal rest of Friday, May 22, 2026 at the EAMC-Opelka, Opelika, Alabama.
Bernice Mitchell was born August 3, 1944 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Harvest and Carrie Mitchell. On Friday, May 22, 2026 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama, she answered the Masterโs call and took flight to be at rest.
She graduated from Lanier High School Class of 1964. She moved to Detroit, Michigan where she was employed at Sinai Grace Hospital and Goodwill.
She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett, Alabama under the leadership of Rev. W.H. Radney.
She had four brothers, who preceded her in death; Henry, Walter, Harvest and Ulysses.
She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy of love, two daughters, Camile Mitchell, Lanett, Alabama and Lisa Mitchell, Tacoma, Washington; an adopted daughter, Tanisha Carmichael, Detroit, Michigan; five grandchildren, Qurnice, Shanice, Tyrone, Tacoma, Washington, Shayrod, Mansfield, Ohio, and Nassier, Lanett, Alabama; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dillie Mitchell, Lanett, Alabama and Charlene Mangham, Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Jerome Mitchell, Valley, Alabama; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Grandma my heart is broken. This is pain that will never leave me. I love you sooooo much and you know it! There are no words i can say to explain what you meant to me as my world has stopped. With all the love you have given me i know this can't be the last time we see each other. I wish i could hug and kiss you again. I got so much to tell you. All these memories i have with you will forever be. My poor heart is broken. I know that you are no longer suffering ma and no more pain. I'm not ready for any of this. I love you Ma
