Obituary For Arthur L. "Snack" "Punk" Atkinson

On September 27, 1987, Arthur Lee Atkinson, Sr. and Carrie Gilbert Atkinson welcomed a baby boy whom they named Arthur Lee Atkinson, Jr. He was born in Valley, Alabama, and was a cherished blessing to his family.

Arthur attended Mt. Hermon Baptist Church during his childhood.

“Snack” and “Punk,” as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was a graduate of Troup High School, Class of 2006. During his high school years, he proudly played football and baseball, where he developed a lifelong love for sports. He also enjoyed playing video games, spades, and dominoes. Arthur was employed by Pharmavite in Opelika, Alabama.

Arthur was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. He found great joy in coaching recreation football and softball for his children’s teams, taking pride in supporting and encouraging them both on and off the field. Above all, Arthur especially enjoyed spending time with his children, who were the center of his world. Whether coaching from the sidelines, cheering them on, or simply creating memories together, those moments brought him his greatest happiness.

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, God sent His loving angels to bring him to eternal rest.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Atkinson, Sr. and Carrie Gilbert Atkinson; his paternal grandparents, Sandy Atkinson, Jr. and Eva Lee Atkinson; and his maternal grandparents, Felix Gilbert and Mattie Will Gilbert.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving partner, Arialle Bledsoe; three beloved children, Caisley Bledsoe, Aason Atkinson, and Aaraji Atkinson; his cherished goddaughter, Marissa “Talia” Varner; one loving sister, Crystal Atkinson; one loving brother, Dominique Atkinson (Sasha Bratton); one beloved niece, Mackenzie Bratton; his uncles, Sandy Atkinson, III and Demarco Atkinson; his aunts, Eloise A. Patton, Deborah Gilbert, and Denise (Chuck) Floyd; his special friends, Bobby Williams, Bernard Murphy, Adrian McFarlin, Hubert Finley, Marcus Davis, Tristian Pool, Bernard Hulin, Jarquervious Culpepper, Stylatheo Culpepper and Joshua Gunsby; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Arthur’s love for his children, his passion for sports, and his willingness to encourage others will forever be remembered. Though his earthly journey has ended, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
