Mrs. Antoinette “Toni” Avery, 53, of Lanett, AL passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Bethany House, Auburn, AL.
A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Avery will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the St. James Baptist Church, Lanett, AL with the Rev. John Flournoy, Jr., Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Timothy Huguley, Dr. Lamar Johnson and Rev. W. G. Wimberly, Officiating.
Interment will be held in Pinehill Cemetery.
The remains will lie in state at the St. James Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 12:00 (noon) until the funeral hour.
Mrs. Antoinette Avery, the daughter of Linda Flournoy and the late Curtis Miller was born May 25, 1964 in Chambers County, AL On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Bethany House, Auburn , AL, the angels of heaven stood by her bedside and whispered “Come with me for eternal rest.”
At an early age, Antoinette accepted Christ and united with the St. James Baptist Church, Lanett, AL. She was a graduate of Valley High School, where she was a member of the senior class of 1982.
“Toni”, as she was known by many, was a lovable person and never met a stranger. She loved everybody and made it known; she was the rock of the family. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She was always decorating her home with beautiful floral arrangements throughout.
Toni was preceded in death by a daughter, Shameka James; her father, John Flournoy, Sr. and her grandparents, David and Sadie Floyd.
Mrs. Avery leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, John Avery, Lanett, AL; a devoted and caring daughter, Antwoineshea(Jasper)Todd, Valley, AL; her mother, Linda Flournoy, Lanett, AL; four brothers, Anthony(Evalene)Flournoy, LaGrange, GA, John(Dorothy)Flournoy, Valley, AL, Kelvin Morgan, Lanett, AL, and Vinson(Brenda)Jackson, West Point, GA; two sisters, Jackie Varner, Lanett, AL and Valerie(Nathaniel)Billingsley, Suffolk, VA; four step-children, LaToya Thomas, Jemecia Carr, Antonia Avery and Mario Avery; mother- in-law, Shriley(Nick) Avery Huguley; four brothers-in-law, Alex Huguley, Christopher Huguley, Derrick Huguley, and Nick(Sandra) Huguely; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Huguley and Barbara Huguley; special friend and caregiver, Martha Bonner and host of aunts , uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative and friends.
In the scripture at Rev 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." -BJ
