Mrs. Annies Smith-McCarden, 69, of West Point, GA transitioned on April 26, 2023 at her residence.
God saw Annies was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put His arms around her and whispered "come to me.” Tearfully we watched Annies accept His command, and went to be with Him on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
Annies was born on January 26, 1954 in Mt. Shasta, CA to the parentage of Sam and Ola Smith. Her love for her parents and family was unparalleled. When she had her family, she was over the top with happiness and joy.
She lived a Christian life until the very end. Upon moving to West Point, GA Annies united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church on September 23, 2007. Annies was faithful in worship and attendance, and worked with the Scholarship Committee.
Annies met and married Willie B. McCarden, and on May 28, 1978 they formed a union that would last for forty-five years. They became the proud parents of Justin and Jamaal. Upon graduating from High School with a nursing education she, continued her education by earning a degree in nursing. She worked as a LVN for 25 years.Annies was a member of the CA Association, the GA Nursing Association, and other affiliations.
Annies was preceded in death by her parents, Ola and Sam; her brothers, Larry and Melvin, and her sister, Darlene Hurst.
She leaves to cherish her memories:
A husband, Willie B. McCarden of West Point, GA; sons, Justin McCarden of West Point, GA and Jamaal of FL; special friend, Mary Sampson, her god-sister of Oakland, CA, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Smith-McCarden will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, West Point, GA with Dr. W. T. Edmondson, Pastor, Eulogist and Minister Deborah McCarden, Assisting.
