Larry F. Reeves, 69, of LaFayette, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on September 14, 2025.
Born on August 22, 1956, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Larry lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family and faith, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Larry grew up in Alabama, went to Valley High School in Valley. He later earned his welding certification from Opelika Technical College, launching a career that would span more than four decades. A master of his craft, Larry began his professional journey at Sims Machinery in Lanett before continuing with Sims in Valley and later ISS in Valley. Eventually, he founded his own business—Triple Oak Welding in LaFayette—where he combined skill and creativity until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Larry was known not only for his technical expertise but also for the joy he found in building things for those he loved. Whether it was crafting a gym set for his grandchildren or designing a trailer with a custom kayak rack for family adventures, Larry’s handiwork reflected both talent and heart. His hobbies included pitching horseshoes, camping, four-wheeling, kayaking, Ruth’s Flea Market with friends and spending time with his family and grandchildren and Auburn Football. One of his favorite pastimes was simply relaxing on the front porch swing—a place where many conversations were shared and memories made.
Larry’s faith was important to him and grew stronger especially later in life. He loved his Lord and Savior, and he cherished fellowship with his church family and took great pride in working with the Chambers County Outdoor Expo for several years. His commitment to service and community left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years and devoted caregiver for the past five and a half years, Kathy Reeves; sons John Reeves of LaFayette, AL and Chris Williams of Hampton, TN; grandchildren Anisa Kistler, Kaitlyn Williams, Ethan Kistler, and Corbin Williams; five great-grandchildren with another expected soon; his mother-in-law and caregiver Ruth Webb and special family friend and caregivers Katie Brooks and Wynell Talley. nephew Coleman (Tiffany) Reeves; nieces Alisha (Brian) Self, Robin (John) Cochran, Kathy (Jack) Gaches, and Amy (Joe) Chichetti; as well as many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Charlotte and Joe Reeves; sister Joanne Dobson; and brothers Ken Reeves and Morris Reeves.
