James David Huckaby, 73, of LaFayette, Alabama, passed away on February 12, 2026, at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn, Al. He was born in Wilmington, NC, on May 16, 1952, to the late Thomas and Mary Rivenbark Huckaby.
David was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was specialized as an auto mechanic, track vehicle mechanic, motor transportation operator, and heavy truck driver. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medical, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal with two loops, and Rifle Expert.
David was a retired long haul truck driver.
He is survived by several cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded by his parents.
Graveside will be held on Tuesday February 17, 2026, at 11:00 am CST at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 2408 CO Rd 62 LaFayette, Al 36862, with Reverand Tommy Wilcox and Reverend Jimmy Allen officiating.
Family will receive friends at the cemetery prior to the service.
