Carey Frank Meadows, 79, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away on April 29, 2026, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Al. He was born in LaFayette, Alabama, on July 12, 1946, to the late William Calvin Meadows and the late Essie Mae Lawhorn Meadows.
Carey was retired as a truck driver from West Point Pepperell after 39 years and 14 years with AAA Cooper. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shawmut, and a deacon for 43 years.
Carey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Bowling Meadows, children; Scott (Mandy) Meadows of Valley, Al, Rachel (Paul) Knox of LaGrange, Ga, Keith (Kelsey) Meadows of Alexandria, Va, siblings; Ralph (Becky) Meadows of Montgomery, Al, Billy Ray (Carol) Meadows of Lanett, Al, James (Pam) Meadows of Lanett, Al, Nancy (Dennis) Wright of Eclectic, Al, Joyce Hillyer (Frank Nowakowski) of Opelika, Al, Deborah (James) Whitehead of Montgomery, Al, Butch (Susan) Meadows of Opelika, Al, sisters-in-law; Luellyn Meadows of Hartsville, SC, Jean White of Abanda, Al and Linda Drake of Marietta, Ga, grandchildren; Jessica Meadows, Maddy Meadows, Blake Meadows, Kenley Meadows, Morgan Knox, and Macy Knox, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, brother; Jimmy Meadows, sister; Sue Auchmuty, and brother-in-law; Jim Auchmuty.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 17, 2026 2:00 pm EST / 1pm CST at First Baptist Church of Shawmut.
Visitation will be held at Jeff Jones Funeral Home, 152 Alabama Ave. E, LaFayette, Al, on Friday May 1, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm EST / 5:00 – 7:00 pm CST.
