Central Cremation Services respectfully announces the passing of Thomas Lawrence Jonas age 76 of Loganville GA, on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025.
Thomas Lawrence Jonas was born on Sunday, August 28th, 1949.
Tom was born in Eureka, California and grew up in Florida. Tom graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School. After graduating, Tom later married and was the father to four children. Tom held several jobs over his life, to include, an ambulance driver at Grady Hospital, motorcycle cop at New Smyrna Beach Police Department (FL), various construction jobs, and retired after over 20 years as a professional truck driver. Tom enjoyed watching college football, especially his favorite team, the Florida Gators. Tom was a true Gator no matter what and loved teasing his UGA doctors. Tom loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Tom also enjoyed spending time with his closest friends Bill and John. Tom faced life head-on with no excuses or filters. Tom came to know Jesus Christ as a child and embraced Christ in his last years. Tom battled cancer three times over six years with a warrior’s spirit and with the understanding that everything was in God’s hands. In the end, Tom was surrounded by all his children as he passed from this life to rejoin his parents, brother, and sister in Heaven.
Tom was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ora Lee Whitcomb; parents, Milford and Thisbe Jonas; his older brother who died in infancy; and his sister, Marilyn Jonas Rich. Tom is survived by his children, Derek McLeroy, Kirk McLeroy, Chrissy Jonas, Joshua Jonas; (7) grandchildren - Juan, Amanda, Nick, Willow, Zoe, Braxton, and Gwen; niece - Holly Rich; brother - Jim Jonas (Melanie) and family; and a multitude of distant relatives.
