Sean Christian Swierczek, age 44, of Jefferson, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Sean was born on January 27, 1982, in Oceanside, California.
Sean is survived by his wife, Shannon; his two sons, Slade (18) and Syler (16), all of Jefferson, Georgia; his mother, Arlene McGuire of Oceanside, California; and his brothers, Jonathan, Chris, Mike, and Patrick McGuire, also of Oceanside. Sean is preceded in death by his father, William M. Swierczek, also of Oceanside, California.
Sean was a highly decorated combat veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Regiment of the U.S. Army. He attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5). He completed Airborne School and the elite U.S. Army Ranger School, earning the respect of those who served beside him. Sean deployed multiple times in support of the Global War on Terrorism, including combat service in Afghanistan, Iraq, and surrounding regions.
Among his many honors were the Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge—an honor reserved for those who engaged in active ground combat. He also earned his Parachutist Badge and qualified as an expert marksman.
Sean lived the Ranger Creed not just in uniform, but in the way he carried himself throughout his life—steadfast, disciplined, and deeply committed to those he loved.
In his civilian life, Sean worked as a Survey Field Tech and advanced to become a Project Manager. He was incredibly versatile and indispensable to his coworkers and his company for 15 years. Sean wore many hats and was always willing to do whatever it took to get the job done. He was competitive in the best way and managed to win every single office competition.
Above all, Sean loved his family. He especially cherished watching his sons play basketball and football and took great pride in being present for those moments. He enjoyed simple, meaningful routines—listening to music while cooking, watching comedy, playing games on his phone, taking walks through the neighborhood, and occasionally playing a round of golf. The time he spent at home with his family meant everything to him.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial details will be announced at a later date.
