Obituary For Phillip Melvin Bruce Sr.

Phillip Melvin Bruce (Sr), born September 10, 1961, in Navasota, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2026.

Phillip worked for over forty years at Canino’s Produce in Houston, Texas. During the last decade of his life, he devoted himself to pursuing Christ, including participating in a men’s fellowship six days a week for seven years. His faith was the foundation of his life and a source of strength and encouragement to those around him.

He is survived by his sons, Phillip Bruce Jr. and wife Lauren, and their son Benji; Brian Bruce and wife Dena, and their daughter Emily; and Jonathan Bruce. He is also survived by his brothers, Howard “Toby” Bruce and wife Juliana, and James Edward Bruce and wife Sara; and his sisters, Brittney Scott and Brandy Scott, 10 nieces and nephews, as well as countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Phillip was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Alice Gaskins; his father, George Henry Bruce; his stepmother, Katherine Bruce; his brother, George Henry Bruce; his sisters, Alice Jewell Diggs and Mary Elizabeth Bruce; his stepbrothers, Gerald Parduhn and Dennis Parduhn; and his niece, Virginia Bruce.

Phillip will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to his family, and his unwavering faith in Christ. His life touched many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services and Interment
Huntsville, Texas
Funeral services and interment will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas, in July 2026. The date and time will be announced at a later date.
