November 19, 1939 – October 18, 2026
Mary Ann Shoebridge, 86, passed away on October 18, 2026, just one month shy of her 87th birthday.
Born on November 19, 1939, Mary grew up in Garretts Bend, West Virginia, the daughter of Carter Paul and Carrie Hill Paul. She spent much of her adult life in Michigan, where she raised her children and made a home for her family. A true Appalachian at heart, Mary wasn't afraid of a spider, a snake, or a generous helping of seasoning in a pot of beans. Her pot roast and potatoes were legendary among anyone lucky enough to have a bite. She loved a trip to Costco, where she never had trouble finding something to spend her money on or a stranger to strike up a conversation with. If you talked to Mary long enough, chances are she would ask if you knew Christ as your Savior. Her faith was a big part of her life, as was her Grace church community.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Irving Shoebridge, and her daughter, Kimberley Sue Shoebridge.
She is survived by her son, Alan Shoebridge of Tucson, Arizona, and her daughter, Kari Galloway (Sid) of Homer, Georgia; her granddaughters, Amanda Wright (Jim), Meredith Adams (Justin), and Mindy Montgomery; and seven great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Victoria, Lincoln, and Waverly Wright, and Joey, Abby, and Julia Adams.
She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Kathy Livingston, Susie Sprowl, and Laurie Barker, and their families, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
After Irving's passing, Mary spent her remaining years helping raise her great-grandchildren. Being Grammy was one of the great joys of her life, and it was a title she shared with far more than just her own grandchildren. Friends and their children called her Grammy too, and she loved them just the same.
Mary loved her family, loved the Lord, and could find something to laugh about in almost any situation, especially if the joke was on her. She will be missed more than words can say, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is home with her Savior, and that they will see her again.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 15, at 2 p.m. at the home of Meredith and Justin Adams in Atlanta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, honor Mary by sharing a meal with someone you love--especially if it's at Costco.
Send flowers to the service of Mary Ann Shoebridge
