Obituary For Mark Stephen Garner

Mark Stephen Garner, 65, passed away suddenly and peacefully on August 19, 2026. He was born in Schenectady, New York. Mark’s life journey took him through Ohio, Alabama, Florida, and California before he spent his final year in Greensboro, Georgia. Though he called many places home, Ohio, where he spent most of his life, held a special place in his heart.

Mark will be remembered for his creativity, compassion, encouragement, unwavering devotion to those he loved, his love for his Labrador, Molly and his gift for bringing laughter to any situation. His kindness and caring nature left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his spouse, Edward Starr; siblings Howard John “Jack” Garner, Robert (Jane) Garner, Kathleen (Rich) Winterman, and Carol Garner; sister-in-law Connie Crump (Michael); brother-in-law Steven Starr (Jennifer); as well as loving nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Regina “Jean” Garner, and his in-laws, Henry and Caroline Starr.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in Mark’s memory.
