Johnny Wayne Stephens of Farmington, Georgia went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2025 at age 75.
Johnny was born June 1, 1950 in Greensboro, Georgia, where he was raised and built the foundation of a life centered around family, faith and Georgia football.
Johnny was a devoted father to his children: Brandie Stephens Fowler and Husband Steve Fowler, Tanya Renea Stephens, and Chadwick Todd Stephens and wife Katie Stephens.
He was a proud “Papa Johnny”
To twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
To Johnny family extended far beyond blood; he welcomed many others into his heart and loved them as his own.
Johnny was a simple man, and his life was filled with things he loved most: his family, his animals, Georgia football, and the simple pleasures of the outdoors. Johnny enjoyed fishing in the summers with his children, taking strolls around Farmington, and spending time by a bonfire. He never passed up the chance for a good conversation; he would talk your ear off if you would let him!
He was preceded in death by:
his Father and Mother, James Roy Stephens in January of 1979, and Mother Hattie Mae Ingram Stephens in June of 2003.
His siblings including
Gary Roy Stephens in December of 2007, Bobby Kent “Jo Boogie” Stephens in April of 2010, Gail Stephens Branyan in August of 2012 and Thomas Franklin “Dee” Stephens in October of 2014. And his beloved granddaughter, Christian Liane Stephens in December of 1995.
At Johnny’s request no traditional funeral service will be held. Instead, his family will honor his life with an intimate celebration of life on Saturday September 6, 2025 at 6pm at his daughter’s home where he resided. All family and friends are invited to join in this potluck style gathering with a bonfire and stories to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in honor of Johnny‘s granddaughter, Faith Fowler,
to Extra Special People (ESP) located in Watkinsville, Georgia. A nonprofit organization that held a special place in Johnny’s heart.
We will always keep Johnny’s memory close to our hearts.
