Obituary For John Robert Henderson

John Robert Henderson, 83, passed away peacefully in his Milton, GA home.
John was the son of Terry Henderson and Eloise Howell Henderson.
John was a man of remarkable versatility, curiosity, and creativity. Early in his career, he moved to Marietta, Georgia, where he worked as a draftsman for Lockheed during the Vietnam era. He later returned to Florida and established himself as a custom home designer and builder in the Brandon (Tampa), Florida area, developing subdivisions and personally building approximately 350 custom homes and drawing the plans for each one himself. He also developed a number of subdivisions.
John was a gifted problem solver who could fix almost anything, from installing a solid-state drive in a computer to pouring a new concrete driveway. He loved learning and was an avid reader, consuming volumes of books on spirituality, metaphysics, astrology, Tarot, and many other subjects. He also played piano and saxophone and loved boating and spending time on the Gulf of Mexico.
John was the father of two sons, John Robert Henderson II, who predeceased him, and Matthew Stephen Henderson, and was the grandfather of Eloise “Ella” Henderson.
In 1991, John returned to the Atlanta area, where he met his wife, Sherry Henderson,
In 1995, John opened Hoot Owl Attic Metaphysical Bookstore, complementing Sherry's metaphysical center, The Inner Space. John studied astrology, Tarot, and numerous metaphysical practices and became a professional hypnotherapist, certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists as an instructor and trainer of hypnotherapists. He also trained and certified practitioners of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
John is survived by his wife, Sherry Henderson; his son, Matthew Stephen Henderson; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Henderson; his granddaughter, Eloise “Ella” Henderson; and his stepchildren, Montgomery Sterling Cowan and April Danielle Cowan.
John will be remembered as a builder in every sense of the word—a man who designed homes, built businesses, created things with his hands, explored ideas with his mind, and shared a life filled with curiosity, creativity, and adventure with those he loved.
