Obituary For John Ralph Henly (Scottie) McIntosh

John Ralph Henly (Scottie) McIntosh went to his Heavenly home Sunday, April 13, 2025.

He was born May 1, 1942 in Asheville, NC.
He was named after his father and both of his grandfathers. He's best known as Scottie- a nickname given to him in the service.

He joined the military as enlisted and then attended the last Boot Strap commissioning program where he earned a college degree, was commissioned as an officer, and retired as Captain - after twenty years of service to his country in US Air Force, which included one year in Vietnam.

After retiring from military service, Scottie went to work at the North American Mission Board, and retired-again-after ten years. He then worked for state of Georgia, and finally retired for good. However, proceeded to obtain two more bachelor's degrees and one Master's Degree.

He was an ordained Baptist deacon and served many positions in church work in several different states.

He loved photography, woodworking, building train villages, flying remote airplanes, golfing and fishing.

Scottie was a very active member of North Metro Baptist church as volunteer, substitute teacher and loved playing violin and cello in the church orchestra.

Scottie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda. And leaves behind a daughter, Tere Johnson (Rick) and a very precious and special granddaughter, Royce. His surviving siblings: Marion Davis (Richard), Peggy McIntosh, brother, Bill McIntosh (Janet) and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Dixie McIntosh and sister, Laura Deck.

He loved God, his family and his country.
