Obituary For John Jeffrey Ergle

Mr. John Jeffrey (Jay) Ergle died Friday, Dec. 12, 2025 at his home in Athens, Ga. after a lengthy illness.

Jay was born Dec. 6, 1972 in Macon, Ga. and grew up in Marietta, Ga. He graduated from Pope High School in 1991 and spent 4 years at the University of Georgia. He worked for over 25 years at the UGA Libraries in various capacities, but the last few years as Library Technical Paraprofessional. Jay loved his cats, old movies, being outside and spending time with friends and family.

His survivors include: John and Nancy Ergle, parents; Marcie Ergle Armstrong, sister and Trevor, brother-in-law; Ben and Blake Armstrong, nephews. No public service is planned.

The staff of Central Cremation Services is honored to be selected to provide end‑of‑life services for the family of John Jeffrey Ergle.
