Obituary For John Hamilton Autry

Nicholson, Georgia – John Hamilton Autry, 49, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

John was born August 14, 1974, grew up in the Athens and Ila, Georgia areas, and attended Cedar Shoals High School.

A skilled mechanic, John worked in various companies in that field before becoming a long-haul trucker for many years. He took great satisfaction in having driven to every state in the continental U.S. He was currently employed with Reinicke Athens.

John was proud of his thirty-one year marriage to Jennifer Anne (Rose) Autry and of their greatest accomplishments: two beautiful daughters whom John loved without measure. Within his larger family, John was known as the one who kept everyone together, giving advice, care, and support. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his daughters Sarah Autry Bennett (Cody), and Emily Christine Autry, three grandchildren Adalyn, Freya, and Onyx Bennett, his mother Patricia Autry Benton Sailors (Richard), his siblings Nancy Autry Everett, Michael Autry, Scott Autry, Adrienne Autry Hernandez, their spouses, children, and grandchildren, and his father, Ralph Autry, Sr. John was predeceased by his stepfather Horace Benton and his brother Ralph Autry.

The family will mourn privately and they appreciate the kind condolences offered by so many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.
