James Daniel Banks, 72, of Winder, Georgia, passed away on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
A graduate of Cross Keys High School, Danny spent many years working in industrial supply sales, where he was respected for his hard work, honesty, and dedication.
A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, he was a longtime member of Landmark Church. His faith guided his life and was reflected in the kindness, generosity, and love he showed to others.
Danny had a lifelong love of music, especially bluegrass. An accomplished banjo player, he found great joy in sharing his talent with family and friends. Those who knew him will always remember the sound of his banjo and the happiness it brought to those around him.
Above all else, he cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with the people he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne O'Reilly Banks, of Winder, Georgia; his son, Christopher Banks (Jacque), of Winder, Georgia; his daughter, Stacey Johnson (Roland), of Gainesville, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Katherine, Caitlen, Melody, Madelyn, and Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Banks; his mother, Harvaleen Banks; his father, Bill Banks; his sister, Kathy Banks; and his brother, Russell Banks.
A celebration of life service will be held at Landmark Church, Norcross GA on Saturday July 25th at 3pm.
The family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Send flowers to the service of James Daniel Banks
Worked with Danny over 7 years at Progressive. Spoke almost every day and miss those talks. Danny was one of the most honorable and talented people I have ever met. Fly High and keep watch over your family and friends.
My dear brother in Christ is missing here but is playing music and smiling ear to ear until we meet again. He is now cheering you on Jeanne, Stacy, and Chris and Grandchildren.Hebrews 12:1 says "we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses". I pray our Holy Spirit will comfort you with the "oil of Joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness". Is 61. Danny's smile lives on!!🙏🏼✝️
So sorry to hear about Danny. He and Cathy were such great friends back in the days at Clairmont. I'll never forget Bill and Harvie and the fun they brought to the church. Fly high, Danny.
An entrance into Landmark will never be the same. The music will never sound the same. A smile will not mean the same. My heart will not beat the same. How I will miss his reception, his attitude, his warmth ... him. Thank you, Lord, for Danny.
Danny and knew each other both from high school and our church at Clairmont Baptist. When we were in high school, band was his favorite subject and I'm sure you understand why. Latin, on the other hand, was a struggle 😀 I know his faith in God was strong and I am happy to know we will see him again eventually. My sincere sympathy to all of you.
Dad, Chris and I miss you so much. Thank you for always being there for us . We are so blessed that God picked you to be our Dad.
Sending peace to you Jeannie. So sad for your loss.
Grew up with him and his family in our church. His talent amazed me. His family all were amazing. So sorry
