In Loving Memory of James Arthur Eaton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Arthur Eaton, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world on February 27, 2024, after a tough battle with colon cancer. He was 57 years old.

The youngest of five siblings, James brought joy and warmth to the Eaton family from the very beginning. Throughout his life, he exemplified resilience, patience, and a strong work ethic that earned him the admiration of all who knew him.

James was married to the love of his life, Dina Marie (Benco) Eaton, who he shared a deep and enduring bond. His devotion to her was unwavering, and her love for him will forever live on in her heart.

A variety of interests defined James’ vibrant personality and his zest for life. He loved all things mechanical and found joy in the rumble of motorcycles, the precision of firearms, the rocking of boats and the beauty of cars. His enthusiasm for these hobbies brought him closer to friends and family who shared his love for the roar of an engine and the bang of a gun.

James loved camping and the great outdoors was his happy place. He transformed into a captivating storyteller around a campfire and could weave tall tales that made the woods come alive.

Armed with creativity, a smart mind and a toolbox, James was a passionate DIY enthusiast. He tirelessly remodeled multiple bedrooms, completely transformed the living room, and built a front porch made for rocking chairs, showcasing his expert craftsmanship.

Professionally, James was an accomplished Master ASE Certified diesel mechanic, demonstrating a strong passion for his trade. His expertise and dedication earned him respect from his colleagues. He took pride in his work, knowing that his skills kept the wheels of many tractor trailers running smoothly and ensuring drivers returned home safely each evening. Beyond the garage, James was proud of earning a master's degree in taxation from Georgia State University, further enhancing his intellect.

His nephews and niece affectionately referred to him as the “funcle” or fun-uncle. He was a mentor and a loving presence in their lives. He became a weekend parent to the troubled nephew (*cough* Brian) and used his mechanical expertise to teach him how to trouble shoot and fix cars and how to be a man.

James’ memory is lovingly kept alive by his wife, Dina Marie (Benco) Eaton, his siblings, Pam (Larry) Plemons, Doug (Bertie) Eaton, Joe (Stacey) Eaton, Kim (Steven) Fritz, his nephews, his niece and his adored fur-babies, Maya, Odie and Howard.

As we bid farewell to James, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives, his kind heart, and the fierce spirit with which he faced life's challenges. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by his other beloved dogs who no doubt, were waiting for his arrival with wagging tails.
