On September 1st, 2024, Ms. Christine Mitchell Decker, age 86 of Gainesville, entered her eternal rest
after battling a brief illness. Ms. Decker was born in Moultrie Ga, daughter to the late James Bryant
Mitchell and Lenora Gunn Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her late
husband of 31 years, Harold “Hal” Elsworth Decker of Lawrenceville, Brothers Grady Mitchell, Earnest Mitchell, Cecil William Mitchell, Claude H. Mitchell and Bryant Mitchell and sisters, Alma Lucille Mitchell, Pauline and Betty, all of Georgia.
As a young adult, Ms. Mitchell worked with her family on their dairy farm. In 1974, she married Harold Decker and she retired from Tera-Systems in 1997 and enjoyed her later years surrounded by her family and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Christian with a never-ending love for God. She loved sharing his good word with friends, family and strangers alike. She would sing and ask anyone to join her in singing a hymn or two and then laugh about memories together. She was always more than willing to lend an ear to anything anyone had to say and then say a prayer together for each other and the souls of those she didn’t even know. Her greatest love besides the lord was her grand children and great-grandchildren spending every moment she could with them.
Survivors of Ms. Decker include: Sons Jeffery Bruce Miller Sr of Pendergrass and Ronald Anthony Jackson of Athens, daughters Kimberly Margie Jackson of Athens and Lisa Renee Miller of Pendergrass, Brothers James Henry “Junior” Mitchell of Texas, Glenn Edward Mitchell, Carl Franklin Mitchell and Mack Clinton Mitchell, all of Georgia and sister Clyde G. Mitchell of Georgia, Grandsons Jeffery Bruce Miller Jr. of Gainesville, Richard Harold Ray Jackson, Jacob Anthony Jackson and Joshua Austin Jackson, all of Georgia and Granddaughters Kristen Louise Wallace of Gainesville, Ashley Renee Miller of Pendergrass and Lianna Kathryn Knutsen of Flowery Branch and 13 Great Grandchildren.
In accordance to Ms. Decker’s wishes, she will be cremated and buried with her family in Buckhead
Cemetery in Morgan County, Georgia with a small service on Sunday October 6th at 2:00 PM and a small portion of her will be reunited with her late husband Mr. Decker at his final resting place at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville in private.

Grandma’s Voice
Grandma’s voice was soft yet strong, a hymn of faith, a sacred song. She sang of Jesus, pure and true,
and in her love, our spirits grew. Her heart was full pf endless grace, a light that shone in every space.
With hands that held and prayers that soared, she lived her life for the love or our Lord. Her grand kids
were her greatest joy, each hug, each laugh, a sweet employ. In every note and every tune, she filled our
hearts and made our souls bloom. Though she’s with Jesus now above, her song remains a gift of her
love. In every memory, every prayer, every ounce of care, Grandma’s love will always be there.
