Betty Austin, a devoted homemaker and a gentle soul, passed away on November 19. She was
born to Hoyt Cowert and Mami Williamson on April 29, 1943. She met Luther Paul Austin in the
mid 60's and they had a combined 3 children; Stanley Allen, Lisa Austin, and Greg Austin.
Known for her loving heart and unwavering generosity, Betty created a home where
everyone felt cared for. No visitor ever left her table hungry. She always prepared the meal she
knew was your favorite, made with the same kindness that defined her life.
A woman of deep spirituality, Betty was a faithful member of Redeemed Baptist Church for over
fifteen years. Each morning she began her day in prayer, calling loved ones by name and
offering soft, heartfelt blessings for family and community alike.
Betty found joy in simple comforts and quiet rituals. She spent her summers on the porch swing
and her winters by a warm fire, always with a book in hand. An avid reader, she kept a vast
personal library and regularly donated books so others could share in the journeys she
cherished.
In her younger years, Betty lovingly cared for her nieces, nephews, and many neighborhood
children, touching countless lives with her gentle guidance. And every morning, after her
prayers and a cup of coffee, she never missed an episode of Kelly and Regis, a small delight she
looked forward to each day.
Betty's warmth, faith, and thoughtful presence will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
