Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Mr. Willie James Penn, 61 of Union Springs, Alabama on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his residence.
Celebration of Life Services and Interment will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 1:00 pm. from the Mt. Azure Baptist Cemetery of the Three Notch Community. Midway, Alabama.
The message of comfort and acceptance will be delivered by Pastor Roosevelt Grant of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
Public visitation will be held Friday, May 29, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols.
Willie James Penn Sr. was born February 14th 1959. He graduated from Bullock County High School in 1978. Willie also served as a National Guard of the United States Army. He worked as a long haul truck driver for over 35 years until he retired.
Willie James Penn Sr. was a devoted Father, Brother and Friend. He was a life long resident of Union Springs, Al and was well known in his community. Willie will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
He entered into eternal rest in the arms of the Lord on May 17, 2020 at his home.
Willie is survived by his three sons: Corey Gachett, Kametrez Tarver (Felicia) and Willie James Penn Jr. (Shane). Three Brothers: Lester Holmes Miami, Fl. Jerry Holmes (Antonia) Jacksonville, Fl. Antonio Holmes Miami, Fl. Two sisters; Perlina Holmes and Michelle Smith (David Smith) both of Miami, Fl. Granddaughters: Tyveria, Paris, Kametreuna, and London. He is also survived by a life long friend Patricia Farmer Arnold and a host of relatives and friends.
He preceded in death by his father Willie Hue Penn and mother Alberta Holmes.
