With great respect and humility, The Staff and Management of Carter Funeral Home announce the transition of Mrs. Velma Baldwin, 89, of Union Springs, Alabama.
Born, March 5,1928, Mrs. Baldwin transitioned into eternity, Saturday. September 16, 2017 at her residence.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12:00 noon from the sanctuary of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. James N. Robbins,Sr. pastor.
The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. Bruce Burks, pastor of the Mt. Azure and Oak Grove Baptist Churches of Midway, Alabama.
Mrs., Baldwin will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Interment: Mt. Coney Baptist Cemetery
Mrs. Velma Ford Baldwin was born on March 5, 1928 in Midway, Alabama to the late Hanson and Lottie Ford. She was the seventh of eight children. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mt Azure Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Fletcher Baldwin, Sr.
She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made everyone feel welcome upon entering her home. She believed in sharing and helping people. She retired from Wayne Farms Poultry Plant in May 1998, after 26 years of working. Mrs. Baldwin loved making preserves, and gardening with her grandson, Tiger. She also loved doing crossword puzzles. She was a delight to everyone who came across her.
Sis Baldwin answered her Master’s call on Saturday, September 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Hanson and Lottie Ford; husband Fletcher Baldwin, Sr.; four sisters; Lela Harmon, Nettie S. Robbins; Ethel Mae Ford Wilson; and Annie Haines. Two brothers; William Ford, and Simmia Ford. Two daughters, Bobbie Jean Harris, and Mozella Walker. Four Sons, Fletcher Baldwin, Jr., Alfonza Baldwin, Charles Baldwin and James Baldwin.
Velma leaves to cherish her memories four daughters Annie (John) Thomas, Ft Lauderdale, FL; Thelma (Phillip) Foxx, Union Springs, AL; Willie Ethel (Tom) Tucker, Philadelphia, PA; and Shirley Ann Baldwin, Troy, AL. Five sons; Mack Baldwin, Talladega, AL; Fletcher Baldwin, Jr., Union Springs, AL; Willie C. Baldwin, Columbus, GA; Bernard Baldwin, Birmingham, AL; Jerry (Nona) Baldwin, Union Springs, AL. One sister, Annie C. Penn, Midway, AL. Devoted granddaughters, Lynniecia Watts, Shanton Watts, and Latasha Anthony. Devoted grandsons, Da’Marcus Foxx, Jermaine Watts and Anthony Watts. Velma also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. Three devoted friends, Lela Bell Robbins, Lugenia Davis and Imogene Davis.
