Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Deacon Theodis Douglas, 66, of Union Springs, Alabama on August 10, 2019.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.
The pastor, Rev.Henry James Fowler will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will follow in the Mt Sinai Baptist Cemetery. Deacon Douglas will lie in repose at the Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Deacon Theodis Douglas was born January 13, 1953 to the late Sam and Emma Jean Douglas in Union Springs, AL. Theodis accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health failed. He loved to praise God by singing, giving unselfishly, and showing his love. He graduated from Union Springs High School with the Class of 1973. He worked for the City of Midway, City of Union Springs, Louisiana Pacific, and was a co-owner of his own Logging Company. He departed this life on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Southern Springs Health Care in Union Springs, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Emma Jean Douglas; sisters: Allie Lee Jefferson, Annie Lee, and Sammie Lee Douglas; brothers: J.D., Sam Jr., and Robert James Douglas; two step-daughters: Loria Kendrick and Vickie Baker.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, a loving wife, Mary Baker Douglas, Union Springs, AL.; stepdaughter, Sharon Baker, Niagara Falls, NY.; three brothers: Rev. Fred (Blancha) Douglas, Abraham (Doris) Douglas, and Marvin (Beverly) Parker, all of Midway, AL.; three sisters: Mary J. (Fred) King, Midway, AL., JoAnn Eaton, Columbus, GA., and Georgia (Israel) Clinton, Birmingham, AL.; two additional sisters-in-law: Barbara Douglas, Union Springs, AL and Dimple Douglas, Miami FL; loving god-daughter, Ashley Glaze, Union Springs, AL.; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Precious in his heart was his Mt. Sinai Church (Second) Family, who loved him dearly also. He also cherished, loved, and enjoyed his extended family at the Southern Springs Health Care Facility. Deacon Theodis Douglas was a BIG MAN with a BIGGER HEART!!
