Carter Funeral Home announces the heavenly transition of Mrs. Rosa Mae Nelson, of Fitzpatrick, AL.
Mrs. Nelson passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the age of 73.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, July 7, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the sanctuary of the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Troy, AL., Rev. Johnny Jiles, pastor.
The eulogy will be delivered by her nephew, Rev. Willie Blackmon.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Mrs. Rosa Mae Nelson was born March 10, 1950 to the late Cleveland and Annie Johnson in China Grove,
Alabama. At an early age, she became a member of
the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served
as Secretary.
Later she met and married Willie C. Nelson who
preceded her in death. To this union, four children
were born. She departed this life Sunday, July 2, 2023 at her church singing and praising God.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters:
Rita Nelson, Fitzpatrick, AL and Pamela Hill, Troy,
AL; two sons: Willie A. Nelson, Fitzpatrick, AL and
Querry R. (Stephanie) Nelson, Union Springs, AL;
four sisters: Mary L. Toney and Minnie Johnson,
Troy, AL, Idell Carlis, Montgomery, AL, Annie Mae
Hubbard, Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law: Etta Nelson,
Mary Johnson, and Elizabeth Nelson, Montgomery,
AL; brother-in-law, J. T. Harrist; ten grandchildren:
DeAundra, Vernita, Jaucedes, ZaKarriya,
Benjamin, Daniel, Jalynn, JaQuarious, JaCorey, and
Runquarious; six great-grandchildren; and other
relatives and friends.
